Barley growers are driving innovation on farm by aligning with the brewing industry’s push to cut the carbon footprint of beer production, unlocking gains in both sustainability and productivity in the process.

At Boolah Farms in Australia, sustainability isn’t treated as a buzzword or a box to check. It’s built into everyday operational decisions, from fuel efficiency and equipment performance to operator wellbeing and long-term farm resilience.

Boolah has launched its first Victorian commercial-scale regenerative trial in partnership with the Henderson family of Darcra Farming at Wilkur in the Wimmera. The 500-hectare site is testing carbon-building and nutrient-efficiency products to help farmers reduce emissions, improve soil health and maintain yield - marking the next step in Boolah’s national expansion from Pallamallawa to Victoria.

More than 400 growers, agronomists and industry leaders came together at the 2025 Boolah Trial Farm Field Day to see how data, collaboration and innovation are driving profitable, lower-emissions farming across Australia.
