Sustainability & Traceability Framework

Boolah’s Regen4real framework connects data, innovation and collaboration to help farmers, partners and end users understand the real impact of sustainable agriculture - from paddock to processor.

Developed through Boolah’s national network of commercial trial farms, Regen4real brings sustainability goals to life on the land. It measures progress, validates outcomes, and turns on-farm data into shared value across the entire supply chain.

What is Regen4real?

Regen4real is Boolah’s sustainability and traceability framework - a system that sets measurable goals, supports farmers to meet them, and verifies outcomes with real data.

It captures and validates key indicators across soil health, input efficiency, emissions, biodiversity and community impact. Through on-farm trials and digital reporting, Regen4real connects commodity + data = value - transforming how agriculture approaches sustainability.

At its core, Regen4real brings research, technology and people together to create tangible, verifiable change across the entire supply chain. Every practice tested through Boolah’s trial farms - from soil carbon and fertiliser efficiency to biodiversity counts and rainfall patterns - feeds directly into the framework, helping to build a shared, data-backed picture of progress.

Regen4real also includes a predictive component, using real-time and historical data to anticipate performance and inform future decision-making. This predictive insight helps growers and partners manage risk, plan ahead and continuously improve sustainability outcomes.

That information is then used to:
• Help growers make informed management decisions.
• Provide transparent, data-backed proof of sustainability for end users
• Drive continuous improvement across Boolah’s wider network.

Regen4real doesn’t replace farming knowledge - it strengthens it with evidence. It’s about giving every decision a measurable outcome, so progress can be tracked, verified and shared across the supply chain.

Why Regen4real exists

Sustainability in agriculture can’t rely on statements - it must be backed by data and measurable outcomes. Regen4real was created to help growers and supply-chain partners achieve long-term impact while maintaining productivity and profitability.

Our goals:
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030
• Achieve Net Zero by 2050
• Increase soil carbon and biodiversity
• Reduce reliance on synthetic fertilisers
• Strengthen rural communities through local procurement and workforce engagement

Regen4real measures sustainability across four key areas:

🌱 Health and Productivity of the Land
🤝 Community Resilience and Prosperity
👩‍🌾 Healthy and Engaged Workforce
🏢 Business Model and Governance

This roadmap shows the goals we are working towards across the Boolah network, supported by real data, on-farm trials and verified outcomes.

Regen4real brings these pillars together into one measurable system - helping growers track progress and helping industry demonstrate trusted sustainability outcomes.

Regen4real - The Road to Net Zero

How Regen4real works

The Regen4real framework brings together data, people, and on-farm trials to create measurable change. It’s designed to make sustainability practical - translating research into tools that help growers, partners and end users understand and verify their impact. The system is customisable to each user’s needs, ensuring relevance for different farming systems, regions and reporting requirements.

The Framework
Our sustainability scorecard defines measurable indicators across soil, emissions, labour, community and supply-chain metrics — ensuring transparency and accountability across every part of the Boolah network.

The Dashboard
An interactive digital tool that turns complex data into clear insights — helping farmers and partners track performance, demonstrate progress, and meet ESG reporting needs.

The Trial Farms
Boolah’s commercial-scale regenerative trial farms test and validate new practices and technologies in real farming conditions. With 24 trials, 278 plots and 900 hectares across two states — and expanding — the trial farms demonstrate how data-driven decisions can deliver real outcomes for both sustainability and profitability.

What we measure…

Regen4real provides a clear, measurable framework for tracking sustainability performance. It manages and reports sustainability-related risks and opportunities across four key pillars, ensuring transparency for growers, partners and end users alike.

Regen4real captures a suite of ESG-style indicators, structured across the four pillars - Environment, Community, Workforce and Supply Chain - and aligned with international frameworks and third-party verification.

Together, these four pillars create a comprehensive system for reporting sustainability metrics, verifying progress, and linking environmental performance directly to commercial outcomes.

Sustainability through collaboration

Every outcome achieved through Regen4real is built on collaboration. From the grower in the paddock to the processor at the end of the chain, every participant benefits from shared data, insights and measurable improvement.

Regen4real was developed through collaboration across the entire supply chain and aligned with international sustainability frameworks and accreditations to ensure consistency and credibility.

By working side-by-side with farmers, researchers and industry partners, Boolah is showing that sustainability and commercial performance can support each other when everyone is working from the same evidence.

Long-term collaborators - including Asahi Beverages, Mort & Co, and Barrett Burston Malting - are part of this shared commitment to measurable, data-backed sustainability. Together, we are demonstrating how information, technology and people can unite to create genuine change across the supply chain.

“Regen4real isn’t about theory - it’s proof that sustainability works best when everyone contributes to the data story.”

The Trial Farms - Where Dirt Meets Data

Boolah’s large-scale commercial trial farms are where Regen4real takes shape - testing regenerative practices and new technologies under real farming conditions.

We learn not only from Boolah’s own trial farms but also from other best practices and research partners across the industry, continuously strengthening the accuracy and relevance of Regen4real’s predictive models.

Established in 2021, the Dimboola Trial Farm now hosts 18 active trial participants across 434 hectares and serves as a commercial-scale test bed for new practices, technologies and input products that support our sustainability goals.

As the program grows, we are expanding into new regions with the aim of building a national trial farm network across Australia’s major grain-growing zones.

Our trial farms test regenerative practices where it matters most: in real farming systems. The focus is practical proof, not theory. We measure what works, track the impact, and make it easier for growers to adopt meaningful change.

From carbon sequestration and low-emissions cropping systems to emerging agtech solutions, the trial farms provide a ready-made platform for testing, learning and reporting. It is how we translate ambition into action and turn ideas into measurable outcomes.

The value created is shared across the supply chain. Growers, researchers, processors and end users all gain access to the insights, tools and commercial benefits that come from collaborative trials. Shared learning leads to shared improvement and shared success.

Through Regen4real’s Sustainability Framework and digital dashboards, growers and partners can track progress, meet ESG-style targets and access market opportunities while keeping productivity at the centre.
